Sensor: Limb volume measurement device (LVMD)

Components of the LVMD:

  • One electronic unit with housing.
  • Eight U/S sensors (connected to the electronic unit).
  • Eight transparent foils (prepared for the upper and lower segment of arm arrangement holes for positioning of sensors).
  • Accessories like skin-marker, contact gel, glue rings.

We propose to calculate the area of each sensor plane with the following simple formula:
A = ([a + c] / 2) x ([b + d] / 2)
A: Area of the sensor plane
a, c: Lengths of opposite sides (distances between transmitter and receiver)
b, d: Lengths of opposite sides (distances between transmitter and receiver)

The volume is calculated by :
V = h (A + B) / 2
V: Limb volume shaped between the eight sensor positions
A: Area of the plane shaped by sensors 1..4 (transmitters 1..2, receivers 1..2)
B: Area of the plane shaped by sensors 5..8 (transmitters 3..4, receivers 3..4)
h: Vertical distance between planes A and B.
